First premiering in New York's New Victory theatre in 2016, this exciting new spin on Jules Verne's iconic science fiction steampunk novel takes on a decidely more modern spin, with a 21st century history student Jules boarding the infamous Nautilus as narrator. Putting an emphasis on preventing pollution and respecting our oceans, we experience a new side side to the story, painting Nemo as a 19th century eco-terrorist, rather than a deposed prince. An important new take on the classic novel, this is perfect for families who love the sea.
When Jules decides to focus his thesis on the ecological themes behind Verne's novel, little does he realize that he will be transported back through time to 1868, where he meets Professor Aronnax, now a woman, and Ned Land, the argumentative sailor. Taking on the role of Aronnax's assistant, he uses his knowlege of the novel, and his experiences of modern life - his smartphone also made the jump with him - to further his own survival, despite Nemo's delusions. Will Jules see the light before power takes over his heart completely? Will he ever return to the modern day?
